171 – A few follow ups! Does Stryfes constant ability “trigger”? With the Storm event card Flash Freeze, the -3 atk applies when defending with allies as well? And if other players defend, does it also apply or is the “you” locked in to the original player because it’s a triggered ability and that’s the difference between it and amd the Stryfe constant? And is this kind of another exception to the “you” rule?

Answer

We wouldn’t say Stryfe’s ability triggers, given it’s a constant ability. Granted, he won’t always have bonus ATK, but he will receive bonus ATK upon initiating an attack, and if the cards in the attacked player’s hand change during the attack, Stryfe’s bonus ATK will change with it.
Depends. If Storm plays Flash Freeze, per the rules of defense events, she must be the defender of the villain’s attack and no other character can defend that attack. But, if any minions attack Storm that phase, other characters can defend those attacks; however, Storm will only give those minions -3 ATK if she defends with characters that she controls. If another player defends, Storm won’t give the minion -3 ATK.
